Restart Northwest Limited were retained to undertake phased remediation and enabling works

The site comprised a metal recycling yard, the former Penlake industrial estate and former rail embankment land. The combined area of the 3 land parcels was 10.6Ha (26.2 acres). Redstart completed a programme of site enabling, remediation and engineering works. These works were planned to sort and process site won materials in order to create the required development platform and render the site suitable for the proposed development.

Redstart prepared completion reports for each phase of the works to the satisfaction of the regulators.

Overview

Site clearance operations;
Excavation, removal and processing of below ground constraints to construction to natural ground levels;
Delineation, excavation and removal of identified and previously unidentified contamination hotspots;
Management of environmental issues and nuisance control;
Geotechnical re-engineering of suitable site won material to form the remediation levels;
Processing of suitable material to achieve the required remediation levels;
Preparation of the site for subsequent vibro-piled foundation solutions;
Geotechnical testing to confirm compaction specification achieved;
Validation sampling and interpretation to confirm material retained on-site posed no unacceptable risk to the residential end users, controlled waters or wider environ;
Final trimming and shaping to agreed remediation levels; and
Production of remediation validation report to the satisfaction of the regulators.
