Remediation Site Managers

£45,000 - £55,000 Negotiable depending on experience

The ideal candidate will be experienced in the supervision of contaminated land remediation and enabling works projects and would ideally (although not necessarily) have previous experience in plant operation. Some civils groundworks experience (roads & sewers) would be advantageous. You should have experience organising plant and labour, management of site safety, earthworks, materials management, soil engineering and basic reporting. Any experience of specialised remediation works would be considered advantageous. A basic knowledge of environmental chemical testing, geotechnical testing and invasive species would be useful.

Key Skills Required

• IT literate (Basic use of excel spread sheets, e-mail)

Preferred but not essential
• Plant Operator Tickets
• HNC/HND or similar qualification in civil engineering construction management or other appropriate discipline.

360 Excavator Operators

£30,000 - £39,000 per annum + Van + Fuel, Depending on experience

Redstart is seeking a 360 excavator operator skilled in remediation and enabling works.
• Experienced in contaminated land remediation
• Experienced in bulk earthworks
• Knowledge of GPS control systems

Working in a small team under the direction of the site manager / foreman to safely execute remediation & enabling works in a timely fashion. Working mainly in the northwest with occasional site works further afield.

Senior Geo-environmental Consultant / Remediation Engineer

About the Role Redstart Northwest is a remediation contractor providing contaminated land remediation & enabling works packages. In order to do this our service offering also includes geo-environmental consultancy and demolition. Redstart is looking for a senior geo-environmental consultant to join the team. Working as part of the technical team under the supervision the technical lead, you will be responsible for managing and conducting site investigations and supporting site teams undertaking remediation works. Alongside completion of traditional geo-environmental commissions (Phases 1 - 5) the role will include supporting the remediation team to ensure the works comply with remediation specifications.

The ideal candidate will have:-

Primary Skills
• An excellent academic record;
• A relevant first degree in engineering geology, or similar applied geoscience;
• 3-5 years’ experience in the assessment and/or remediation of brownfield sites;
• Ability to write & review Phase 1, Phase 2, remediation strategy & verification reports;
• Ability to interpret environmental & geotechnical specifications and assist the site teams;
• Knowledge of UK/EU standards;
• Understanding of geo-environmental/geotechnical/ground engineering;
• Willingness to manage and/or undertake site work (investigations & sampling);
• Good knowledge of waste classification and use of Hazwaste online;
• Professional affiliation & working towards Chartered status;
• Commercial aptitude and experience of pricing work & work winning

Site Surveyor

£35,000 - £45,000 per annum (full package outlined below)

Redstart present an opportunity for a site engineer/cad engineer with surveying experience to join the remediation team. The role will be typically split between site and office with flexibility to work at home.

We envisage you will have 5-10 years site surveying/ setting out engineering in construction earthworks environment using GPS or similar . AutoCAD drawing skills and earthworks modelling using LLS essential.
Appropriate surveying qualifications or evidence of higher education desired but not essential.
Driving Licence

• Utilising CAD & GIS software, such as AutoCAD civil 3D and LSS, to create existing and proposed 3D site models which are used to carry out cut-fill analysis of projects at tender stage. This is then communicated to senior management through spreadsheets, drawings and cross-sections.
• Aiding in project commencement by importing a proposed digital terrain model (DTM) into site equipment, including Leica GNSS smart antennae and machine control enabled excavators, and updating as required.
• Tracking project progress by liaising with site teams and conducting volume calculations through topographic surveys using both ground and airborne techniques. Data collected is then processed to produce As-built survey drawings and aerial orthomosaic imagery.
• Producing detailed project completion drawings as well as conceptual site models.
• GVS (General Visual Line of Sight Certificate) required to conduct commercial drone operations.

Redstart is an SME with a dozen staff based out of Stockport. Working as part of this team you will assist the remediation site team, geo-environmental consulting team and office team.
You will be involved from site conception assisting with proposed earthwork volumetric calculations for bids and site development, assisting site with setting out earthworks, quantifying material volumes and checking & verifying finished levels. You will need to produce drawing cut/fill isopachytes and other drawing for tenders and assist with preparation of simple drawings for reports.
You will be need to be a self-starter capable of communicated across the board. The bulk of the work is in the northwest with occasional work outside the region.
